Why you should try these:

After many trials, I think this recipe is the perfect make-at-home Panettone. It's fluffy, delicious and has the flavor we all love.

Proof yeast in water with sugar. Mix with flour. Allow starter to ferment overnight at room temperature.

STEP 1:

Proof remaining yeast in milk with sugar. Combine flour, yeast/milk mix and eggs and mix to combine. Add starter dough.

STEP 2:

Allow dough to double in size in a warm place. Add sugar, zest, salt and vanilla and mix to combine. Add butter and mix until smooth and elastic.

STEP 3:

Allow dough to double in size in a warm place. Punch down and add raisins and candied citrus peel. Form into a ball. Proof in panettone mold.

STEP 4:

After doubled in size once again, brush with egg, score and top with a pat of butter. Bake in a 400F oven for 15 minutes. Cook at 350F another 30-45 minutes.

STEP 5:

Puncture with skewers and hang upside down for 2 hours or until cooled. Cool completely before serving.
