After the holiday season, I think we’re all ready for a more nutritious cookie recipe. This Cookies and Cream Protein Shake certainly fits the bill.
Protein Cookies
Naked Nutrition Protein Cookies are packed with 10g of protein, are soft and chewy, and so delicious. I’ve been loving these cookies for breakfast with a piece of fruit or as a stand-alone afternoon snack. They’re also delicious whipped up into a protein shake.
I chose to use Naked’s Chocolate Chip Protein cookies for this recipe, but their Oatmeal Raisin or Sugar Cookies would also work perfectly in this shake. The chocolate chip protein cookies not only provide protein, but also add a bit of sweetness, richness and body to the shake. Did I mention they’re gluten-free and only have one gram of sugar! I actually like to add a couple tablespoons of Naked’s Vanilla Protein Powder to the shake, as well, for additional thickness, creaminess and vanilla flavor.
Ingredient Notes
Protein cookie- I used Naked’s Chocolate Chip Protein Cookies, but the Oatmeal Raisin or Sugar Cookie varieties would work well too.
Milk- I used almond milk, but any type of milk is fine, just avoid sweetened milks as there is already enough sweetener in the ingredients.
Protein powder- Vanilla protein powder works great, but you can also sub out another flavor, such as chocolate. You can even omit the protein powder all together and sub half of a frozen banana.
Recipe Steps
This Cookies and Cream Protein Shake could not be easier to make. Simply add the milk, ice, protein powder, cinnamon and cookie to the blender and process until smooth (1-2). Serve immediately.
Recipe Tips and FAQs
- Feel free to make this recipe your own. Use any of Naked’s protein cookies and omit the cinnamon, if desired. You could also use chocolate protein powder instead of vanilla, for example.
Yes, peanut butter would be a delicious addition to the Cookies and Cream Protein Shake. You can add 1-2 tablespoons for some additional richness and even more protein. Almond butter would work well too.
Half of a fresh or frozen banana is a great addition to the Cookies and Cream Protein shake. It adds additional sweetness and creates a thick, creamy texture.
